Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed the safety of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine today, the Kremlin said.
In the telephone conversation they had, the two leaders expressed their readiness for a “non-politicized interaction” with the participation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to the statement posted on the Kremlin’s website.
According to Russian agencies, Putin warned that the Ukrainian attacks could have “catastrophic consequences”. Moscow and Kyiv blame each other for the bombings around the nuclear plant.
The Russian president also told Macron that the European Union should not hinder Russian food and fertilizer exports to Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
