Putin’s Chancellor says the US is “directly at war” with Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this Saturday (23) that the United States and other allies of Ukraine are “directly at war” with Moscow.

A journalist asked Lavrov at what point did the US become directly involved in war with Russia instead of being in a “proxy conflict”.

“You can call it what you want, but they are directly at war with us. We can call this hybrid warfare, but that doesn’t change the reality,” said Lavrov. “They are effectively engaged in hostilities with us, using the Ukrainians as fodder,” he added.

The minister said that the US, the UK and many others are “waging war” against Russia and involved in hostilities against the country.

Lavrov said the US and other countries are delivering increasing quantities of weapons to Kiev while the countries’ military satellites and intelligence aircraft are also used against Russian territory.

Russia has often framed its invasion of Ukraine, which it commonly refers to as a “special military operation,” as a fight against attempts by Western powers to dominate the global stage.

Kiev’s allies and international bodies have rejected this characterization, saying they are helping to defend Ukraine from an unprovoked invasion and attempted takeover of territory.
