Putin’s ‘Guru’ Blames Ukraine for Daughter’s Death

Alexander Dugin made his first comments on the murder of his daughter Darya Dugina by a car bomb, blaming Ukraine for her death.

Dugin is the “high priest” of a virulent campaign of Russian nationalism that has become increasingly influential in Moscow.

Coming from a family of Russian military officers, his journey has been remarkable: from fringe ideologue to leader of a prominent current of thought in Russia that sees Moscow as the heart of a “Eurasian” empire that defies Western decadence. He is the spiritual founder of the term “the Russian world”.

His daughter, Dugina, was killed during an explosion “in front of my eyes” while “returning from the Tradition festival near Moscow,” he said in a statement via the Telegram channel of his friend Konstantin Malofeev.

“She was a beautiful Orthodox girl, a patriot, a military correspondent, an expert on central channels and a philosopher. Her speeches and reports have always been deep, grounded and contained. She never asked for violence and war,” he continued.

“She was a rising star at the start of her journey. Russia’s enemies meanly, stealthily killed her.”

As soon as she died, Alexander asked for Russian victory.

“But we, our people, cannot be broken even by such unbearable blows,” his statement read.

“Our hearts yearn for more than just revenge or retribution. It’s too small, not in the Russian way. We just need our Victory. My daughter has laid her single life on her altar. So win, please!” A memorial service will be held for Dugina on Tuesday (23), she added.

Ukraine vehemently denied on Sunday any involvement in the car bombing, with Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, saying in an interview on Ukrainian TV that “Ukraine definitely has nothing to do with this because we are not a Criminal state, which is the Russian Federation, and what’s more, we are not a terrorist state.”
