Putin’s response about ceasefire “It’s not good enough,” says Stmerer

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s response, at the Ukraine ceasefire proposed by the United States, “It’s not good enough,” said UK Prime Minister Keir Stmerer after hosting a virtual dome to raise support for Kiev and increasing pressure on Moscow.

At the end of the meeting, which brought together leaders of the “Coalition of the Holdings” – a group of Western nations who have committed to help defending Ukraine against Russia – Stmerr said that those present agreed that “yes, but” is not good enough ”and that the country will have to come to the negotiation table later or later.

“We agree that collective pressure will be placed on Russia by all of us who were at the meeting this morning,” he added.

This Saturday’s meeting involved about 25 countries, including European nations, the European Union Commission, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as well as Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

After Kiev accepted this week the terms of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine-supported by US President Donald Trump-Moscow’s response was ambiguous, with Putin saying that we “agreed with the proposal”, but also that the agreement “was not complete.”

The meeting also takes place at a critical moment in the three -year war, with Russia advancing in the Kursk border region, where he is trying to reverse Ukraine’s gains.

Although he offered few new details, Starma announced that military from Ukraine’s allied countries will meet in the UK on Thursday (20) to “put strong and robust plans into practice” to maintain peace if a ceasefire is hit in Ukraine.

During Saturday’s negotiations, the British prime Minister said Ukraine allies agreed to “maintain military aid flowing to Ukraine and continuing to tighten Russian economy restrictions to weaken Putin’s war machine and bring him to the table.”

Strmer said Putin was delaying the US-based ceasefire proposal with which Ukraine agreed this week, and that Ukraine “is the Peace Party.”

US President Donald Trump has offered Putin the way to lasting peace – now we need to make it a reality, ”Stmerer added.

Answering a question about US support, Strmer emphasized that the “US position has not changed” and that reaching peace in Ukraine “needs to be done in conjunction with the United States.”

This happens after Starmer says that “if Putin takes peace seriously, it is very simple: he has to stop his barbaric attacks in Ukraine and agree with a ceasefire.”

“The world is watching,” added the prime minister. “My feeling is that sooner or later he will have to come to the table and get involved in a serious discussion.”

The “Coalition of the Holders”, a group that promised to help defend Ukraine from Russian aggression in the face of Washington’s decreasing and uncertain support, met London last two weeks before he met again on Saturday.

Although Europe has shown considerable unity amid the blows that the Trump government has struck the transatlantic alliance, significant divisions remain on whether individual European countries are willing to send troops to Ukraine to maintain peace.

Trump said on Friday (14) that he received “very good news” about a possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, without further details, and that his government had “very good calls” with both countries early in the day.

In a separated publication on Truth Social, Trump said that “there is a very good chance that this horrible and bloody war could finally come to an end.”

Putin met with US special envoy Steve Witkoff on Thursday (13) in Moscow-a visit that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he gave “reasons to be cautiously optimistic.”

With Kiev losing his control over Kursk’s Western Russian region, his only territorial currency, many believe Putin may be delaying negotiations about the ceasefire proposal until the region is firmly back to Russian control.

The Russian forces resumed two more settlements in Kursk – Zaoleshenka and Rubanshchina – said his defense ministry on Saturday. This happens days after Russia recapture the key city of Sudzha, the largest city that Ukraine had occupied in the region.

According to Zelensky, his troops were holding the Russian and North Korean forces in Kursk and denied the Russian allegations that the Ukrainian army was surrounded.

Meanwhile, air strikes continued, with hundreds of drones crossing the border.

Russia fired 178 drones and two ballistic missiles against Ukraine at night, killing at least two people and injuring 44, according to Ukrainian authorities. The two were killed in the Kherson region, said the head of his military administration, after Russia has lifted critical infrastructure and residential buildings, damaging seven skyscrapers and 27 houses.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said its air defenses overthrew 126 Ukrainian drones at night, without saying how many drones surrounded their defenses.
