In military parade, Putin says “operation” in Ukraine was “preventive” action

At the highly anticipated “Victory Day” military parade in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the “special military operation” in Ukraine was “the right decision at the right time”.

“Russia gave a preventive response to the aggression, with a forced and sovereign decision. The special military operation was necessary and it was the right decision at the right time,” Putin declared in Red Square, filled with dozens of military ranks in celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

According to the Russian leader, Western countries “were preparing an invasion of our territory” and accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of creating “threats on our borders”. “The West didn’t want to listen to Russia, it had other plans,” he said.
