Both Mark Tarabella and her partner were released Eva KailiFrancesco Giorgi accused of Qatar Gate. The two men were released on parole by a decision of the Brussels prosecutor’s office, while now according to Le Soir, the electronic bracelet they were forced to wear is also being abolished.
According to the Belgian newspaper, the Belgian prosecutor’s office says that now “there is no reason for their pretrial restraint”. For several months, the prosecutor’s office has been conducting a wide-ranging investigation into the efforts by Qatar and Morocco to influence decisions in the European Parliament.
Pier Antonio Panzeri was arrested on December 9, 2022, as was Mr Francesco Giorgithe Eva Kaili and her father, Nikolo Figa – Talamancaand the trade unionist Luca Vincentini. On February 11, the Belgian MEP was also arrested Mark Tarabella.
All have been released under restrictive conditions, with the last being Eva Kaili who was released under house arrest on April 14.
