Qatar World Cup will have free transport for fans

The government of Qatar confirmed that the public transportation it will be free for fans who go to watch the games of the world Cup in the country, from November 20 to December 21, 2022 . To guarantee the benefit, those who bought the tickets need to apply for the “Hayya Card “.

His presentation will be mandatory at the entrance of the country and also for the competition games. In addition, the card will offer a number of benefits, including free public transport for ticket holders on match days.

To request this card, it is necessary to download the “Hayya to Qatar 2022” app, already available in Android and IOS versions.

The infrastructure that the country has built in terms of mobility for tourists and football fans who will gather at the World Cup edition consists of three alternatives for traveling around the city: the subway, the tram and the buses.

Subway

The subway system in Qatar consists of three lines (Gold, Green and Red) covering 37 stations, staffed by staff at each and where trains will run every 3 minutes.

In addition, each station will have elevators and the carriages are equipped with space for wheelchairs, strollers and access for guide dogs.

The service also has minibuses that will transport passengers between stations and also between prominent places in the city. There are two types: the metrolink bus moving on adjacent routes within a diameter of 2 to 5 km from the stations and the metroexpress minibus.

For the days of the World Cup, the opening hours will be extended, so the service will be from Saturday to Thursday from 6 am to 3 am; while on Fridays it will be from 9 am to 3 pm.

Tram

The tram has three lines that will cover key regions of the city: on one side, there is a Tram Lusail that connects to the station Legafiya, of the red subway line.

O Education City Tram connect the subway via Education City, the National Library of Qatar and Al Shagab stations (this one will be very functional for matches at Education City Stadium).

Msheireb Tram, in turn, it connects the Msheireb metro station with sights in downtown Doha.

karwa bus

Karwa buses operate on an extensive network around downtown Doha. Your routes can be tracked through an app. These vehicles are equipped with ramps, space for wheelchair users and access for guide dogs.

Additional transport services

In addition to free public transport, cost transport services such as Uber, private taxis and Careem will also be available.
