Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 782G – almost the flagship chipset for cheaper smartphones

Qualcomm has expanded its line of mobile platforms with the new Snapdragon 782G (SM7325-AF) single-chip system. The chipset has replaced the Snapdragon 778G+ and is actually an improved version of it.

The Snapdragon 782G is a 6nm chipset with an octa-core Kryo 670 processor and an Adreno 642L graphics accelerator. It has the same configuration as the 778G+: one Kryo 670 Prime core (Cortex-A78), three Kryo 670 Gold cores (Cortex-A78), and four Kryo 670 Silver cores (Cortex-A55). However, unlike its predecessor, the high-performance core in the new model was overclocked to 2.7 GHz, while the rest operate at standard frequencies. With a 200 MHz increase in clock speed, the processor’s performance increased by about 5%, and the graphics accelerator by 10%.

Other characteristics of the chipset have not changed. Snapdragon 782G supports Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology (up to 50% charge in 15 minutes), Fused AI Accelerator architecture, contains the same Qualcomm Spectra image processor with a bandwidth of up to 2 gigapixels per second and support for resolutions up to 200 MP. The modem is Snapdragon X53 (Sub-6GHz and mmWave), the network module is FastConnect 6700 with Wi-Fi 6 support. Plus, there is built-in Bluetooth 5.2.

Qualcomm hasn’t revealed which device will get the Snapdragon 782G first, but there’s a good chance it will be the Honor 80.
