Qualcomm promised 4 years of support, but its smartphone is still on stock Android 11

Last year, Qualcomm announced its first smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders. The device was developed by ASUS, which also oversaw the production, sales and support of the device. Of course, something more is expected from a smartphone costing $ 1,499. Especially with regard to timely updates over a certain period of time. Moreover, after the launch, Qualcomm itself promised 4-year support for security updates. But it seems that neither Qualcomm nor ASUS are interested in their joint product anymore.

It turned out that the test smartphone has not received any significant system updates since March of this year. Moreover, since January it has not received a single security update, that is, the device has been behind schedule for half a year. At the very beginning, the situation with updates was not so bad. From August 2021 to January 2022, the smartphone was regularly updated. The last entry on the ASUS support page is dated March. The changelog says a security update, although the patch is still January.

There were no official statements regarding further updates of the test smartphone either from Qualcomm or from ASUS. When the topic was brought up on Reddit, the Qualcomm community manager promised that he would contact the team and try to get an answer.
