The official premiere of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 may take place as early as April, and mass production will start in May or June. Thus, smartphones based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 may be on sale by the end of the summer.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 production volumes are expected to be higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 – TSMC will be responsible for the production of the new SoC. Qualcomm has reportedly redirected significant production orders for its SoCs from Samsung to TSMC. Therefore, next year Qualcomm may become TSMC’s second largest customer after Apple.
