This week, Qualcomm Technologies, BMW Group and Arriver Software AB announced a long-term partnership to develop automated driving technologies. The companies have signed a strategic collaboration agreement that will focus on the joint development of next-generation automated driving technologies, starting with the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and advanced Level 2 and Level 3 driver assistance systems. The joint development of software features builds on the current BMW software stack Automated Driving, first released in the BMW iX in 2021.

Efforts will focus on building a scalable automated driving platform based on a common reference architecture, sensor suite specifications, and safety requirements with collaborative development, a toolbox, and a data center for storage, reprocessing, and simulation. As part of the cooperation, more than 1,400 specialists will work together around the world, including Germany, the USA, Sweden, China, Romania and the BMW AD test center in the Czech Republic.
