QuantumScape, a solid-state battery company, has shared plans for a new office in the Japanese city of Kyoto. It is planned to create a modern laboratory for research in the field of solid-state batteries for electric vehicles with the involvement of local specialists.
The American company QuantumScape works with the financial support of large OEMs such as the Volkswagen Group. In December 2020, it announced a “major breakthrough” in its technology through the use of a ceramic separator, leading to successful prototype testing of single-layer cells, and in July 2021, it was announced that QuantumScape was beginning testing of the first 10-layer 70 x solid-state batteries. 85 mm almost six months ahead of schedule.
