Mauro Junqueira, executive secretary of the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (Conasems), said, in an interview with CNN, that the mandatory quarantine for travelers not vaccinated against Covid-19 is an advance.
“We are a continental country and, until then, we had not signaled these requirements to the world. So, for us, it’s already an advance. Telling the world that you have to be vaccinated, you have to get an antigen test or RT-PCR. It is a very important sign”.
Junqueira said that the federal government held a meeting with the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), Conasems, Civil House and Ministry of Health on Wednesday (8) to discuss the ordinance that validated the measure.
“The airline will receive the citizen’s health declaration for those who did not receive the vaccine. So, he will have the RT-PCR or the antigen test within 24 hours before boarding and will sign the health declaration committing to quarantine in Brazilian territory, giving his address and telephone number”.
According to Junqueira, the Cievs (Strategic Information Center for Health Surveillance) network will carry out the monitoring, by phone and visit. The traveler will be able to move between cities, but must indicate the place of quarantine, where he will remain for five days. Upon submission of a new negative test.
If he breaks social isolation, he will be subject to penalties ranging from civil, administrative and criminal measures to immediate extradition and deportation.
