Queen Camilla celebrated her birthday with a historic crown of over a thousand diamonds

Yesterday, Wednesday 17th July, the King Charles III performed one of his most important constitutional duties – presiding over the opening of Parliament and reading a speech written by the Prime Minister’s government Keir Starmerjust installed – with his wife at his side, Queen CamillaThe day had a special meaning for the Queen, who also celebrated his 77th birthday.

The sovereign blows out 77 candles today, but the celebrations began early with songs and greeting cards. For the occasion, the fashion choice fell on one of her favorite colors, bright and lively at the right point

During the ceremony, Camilla wore the same crown that the late Queen Elizabeth II wore at the State Opening of Parliament in 1953.

The precious diamond is often called State Diadem of George IVin honour of the king who commissioned it from the jeweller Rundell, Bridge & Rundell in 1820. According to the Royal Collection Trust, it features 1,333 diamonds with a four-carat yellow brilliant set in the center of the front cross, as well as two rows of pearls. Camilla matched the tiara to the Coronation Necklace with 28 diamonds from the late Queen.

The royal couple arrived at the Palace of Westminster in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach drawn by six grey horses. They were followed by a glass carriage containing Fiona Petty-Fitzmaurice, Marchioness of Lansdowne And Lady Sarah Keswicktwo attendants of the Queen, the Master of the Horse Lord Ashton of Hyde and the Earl of Rosslyn, who acts as Lord Steward.

While Kate Middleton and the Prince William were not present at Parliament, they joined in the virtual birthday celebrations, sharing a photograph of Camilla from 2022 taken by Kate in the gardens of Ray Mill House, her personal home.
