“Tree of Trees”. This is the name of the sculpture by Heatherwick Studio which was erected outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate its Jubilee Queen Elizabeth of England. It has a height of 21 meters and the shape of a giant tree. Around the central steel structure of the sculpture, pipes are rotated and extended outwards to form the “branches”, which are again made of steel. They are home to 350 different species of trees found throughout Britain.
The sculpture, according to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, was designed to draw attention to a tree-planting campaign, marking 70 years of Elizabeth’s reign.
After the end of the celebrations, they will dismantle it trees will be stored before being donated to communities across the country for planting in October. The tree planting program in which the sculpture aims to catch the attention of the British is called “Queen’s Green Canopy”. More than one million trees have been planted in the United Kingdom since last October under this program.
