Queen Elizabeth said today that she remained “determined to serve” the British people, in a message of thanks issued today, on the last day of celebrations for the 70th anniversary of her reign.
“I am deeply moved that so many people took to the streets to celebrate my platinum jubilee,” the queen said in a handwritten message from Buckingham Palace. “I remain determined to serve you as best I can, with the support of my family,” he added.
Tens of thousands of people attended outdoor parties or parades in central London, while millions watched live a television pop concert outside Buckingham Palace.
The Queen herself was not present at many of the main festivities due to mobility problems, but she was able to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace today to greet the crowds cheering her on today’s end of the festivities.
