Queen Elizabeth has two new corgi

While Prince Philip is in hospital due to heart surgery, two new corgis have arrived to keep Queen Elizabeth company on the Windsor estate. Neither the name nor the gender are known yet and it is not even known who gave them, but for sure we know at least two things: they are the first of the 30 corgis owned by the Queen over the years not to descend from Susan, the dog that the sovereign received as a gift from her father for her 18 years, and above all they have given her so much joy in these difficult days also due to the interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey who risks endangering the delicate balance of the court.

“The queen is very happy”, an inside source in Windsor told the Sun. “They have been with her for a couple of weeks now, but they are said to be adorable and already feel at home in the castle».

The two puppies arrived after Vulcan’s death, the penultimate dorgi (a cross between a royal corgi and a dachshund) by Elisabeth, and they will keep company with Candy, the last dog (always dorgi) left to the queen. They were a surprise to everyone, because no one would have imagined that the sovereign still wanted dogs: six years ago she announced that she would not want any more once the last of the 30 died. A little because of her age (she is 94), a little to avoid the risk of stumbling (they follow her continuously) but also to avoid danger. For example, she was once bitten in an attempt to calm a fight between eight corgis.

On the other hand, as royal biographer Penny Junor pointed out to the Sun, “Your corgis are extremely important to you. Over the years they have been closer to her than any human being, extremely loyal and loving and never let her down. Not to mention that corgis wouldn’t rush to Los Angeles to give interviews».

The two new dogs will be able to enjoy a golden life: meals based on fresh meat and vegetables served by a valet on a silver tray, fluffy kennels in the royal salons, strolls in wonderful gardens. Not bad. In the gallery above some historical photos of the queen with her corgi
