Queen Elizabeth: Her Christmas Message and Missing Prince Philip

His sly look, his warm laugh, his commitment to the environment; Queen Elizabeth confessed today in an unusually personal Christmas message that her 73-year-old husband, Prince Philip, “misses”.

“Although for many people it is a time of great happiness and joy, Christmas can be difficult for those who have lost loved ones. This year, I particularly understand why. “

In the message videotaped at Windsor Castle, the queen appears in a red dress, sitting at a desk next to a photo of herself smiling with Philip, taken in 2007 on the occasion of the 60th diamond wedding anniversary. He wears the same sapphire brooch he wore on his honeymoon in 1947.

Referring tenderly to Philip, she spoke of his sense of duty, his spiritual curiosity, and his ability to entertain every situation. “The sly and questioning gleam in his eyes was as bright in the end as it was when I first saw him.”

“Although I miss him, and I miss him in my family, I know he would like us to enjoy Christmas,” said Queen Elizabeth, insisting on the “joy of the feast”, despite the “warm laughter we miss”.

Referring to the continuation of traditions and values, the Queen referred to the protection of the environment, praising the work of Philip in this direction, which was continued by Prince Charles and her grandson William, who participated in the COP26 Climate Conference.

Queen Elizabeth made no mention of Prince Harry and his wife Megan, although she was delighted to have four children in the royal family in 2021, including Lilibette, the couple’s second child.

The queen referred to the big dates of 2022, including the Commonwealth Games next summer and the celebrations of her 70th birthday on the Platinum Jubilee (February 6, 1952).
