New surprise release for the queen Elizabeth. After having presented herself at the inauguration of the Elizabeth Line, the new London underground line that takes her name, Her Majesty paid a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, the UK’s largest flower show, organized by the Royal Horticultural Society. That of the sovereign was a preview visit, Monday 23 May, pending the official opening on Tuesday 24.

Dan KitwoodFull fuchsia, dazzling smile, Elizabeth II visited the exhibition on a buggy already renamed “Queen mobile” by royal watchers. The vehicle, in fact, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace, has undergone small changes to make the sovereign’s tour more comfortable: reclining leather seats, on-board mini-fridge for a quick snack and a protective anti-rain system; the weather, you know, in London is always unpredictable.

PAUL GROVERIn this way, the queen was able to save the energy to be at the top at the celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee, next June. An obligatory solution: the Chelsea Flower Show is not the best for those with walking problems like the sovereign, but Elizabeth II did not want to give up one of the most anticipated events of the season.

DAN KITWOODThis, of course, did not stop her from doing public relations and visiting everything possible: ten gardens. With her, the dukes of Wessex, her niece Beatrice with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Alexandra and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent took part in her tour. Few, however, noticed them. All attention was paid to her Majesty.
