THE Queen Elizabeth will personally welcome the US President Joe Biden on June 13, the last day of the G7 Summit in the south-west of England, Buckingham Palace announced today in a press release.
Joe Biden will therefore be the first head of state to be personally admitted by Elizabeth since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic, the palace told AFP.
Elizabeth, 95, will meet with US President and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle in west London, where the Queen has retired since the health crisis hit Britain in March 2020.
Elizabeth, who has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, has since performed most of her duties digitally.
This is the most important official obligation since she presided over the official opening of parliament on May 11th and her first public appearance since the funeral in April of Prince Philip’s husband.
With the exception of Lyndon B. Johnson, Queen Elizabeth has met with all American presidents in the 69 years of her reign. He also welcomed Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, during a controversial official visit in June 2019.
