Queen of hits, Tina Turner collected hits; check out top songs

Known as the “queen of rock ‘n’ roll”, Tina Turner died on the afternoon of this Wednesday (24). The oldest woman to reach number one on Billboard, in 1984, she has collected hits and hits throughout her career.

The singer’s success began in the 60s and 70s, part of the duo Ike & Tina Turner Revue. His solo career skidded for a few years until his 1984 album “Private Dancer” marked a stunning return to the scene with his biggest hit of all time, “What’s Love Got to Do With It”.

Still part of the duo with her husband at the time, Ike Turner, they released hits like “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine”, “River Deep – Mountain High”, “Nutbush City Limits”, “A Fool in Love” and “Proud Mary”. , a cover by the band Creedence Clearwater Revival that won both of them a Grammy.

The duo separated in 1976 and the two were legally divorced in 1978, due to Ike’s history of abuse and domestic violence against Tina.

Still in the 70s, she released four solo albums – “Tina Turns the Country On”, “Acid Queen”, “Rough” and “Love Explosion” – but none of them broke the charts.

In 1984, she released her album “Private Dancer”, which placed three hits in the Top 10 of the Billboard, won three Grammys and sold more than 10 million copies. The hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It” spent three consecutive weeks at number one on the charts. In addition to other hits such as “Better Be Good To Me”, “Private Dancer” and “Let’s Stay Together”.

Though she initially disliked the song and was convinced to record it, “What’s Love Got to Do With It” made her, at 44, the oldest female artist to score a No. 1 hit.
