Queen’s funeral to end in two-minute silence in UK

A two-minute national silence will be held shortly before the state funeral of queen elizabeth II finish on Monday (19), revealed palace officials.

Heads of State, European royalty and dignitaries from around the world will descend on the English capital to join the royal family in honoring the Queen’s life and unwavering service to the nation and the Commonwealth next week.

While no official guest list has yet been published, invitations have been sent. US President Joe Biden was one of the first to confirm his presence at the event in London, where 2,000 people are expected.

The palace outlined what to expect during Monday’s ceremonial events for the late monarch in a briefing on Thursday.

The procession to Westminster Abbey

On the day of the funeral, at around 10:35 am (6:35 am ET), the coffin will be removed from the catafalque where it was resting by a group of carriers founded by the Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion of Grenadier Guards, and carried in procession from Westminster Hall. for the Royal Navy’s State Gun Carriage, said a senior palace official.

The King, members of the royal family and members of both the monarch’s and Prince of Wales’s families will follow directly behind the coffin.

The service will be led by Rev. David Hoyle, Rector of Westminster, at Westminster Abbey, from 11:00 am (7:00 am ET).

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and Patricia Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth, will read the lessons. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will deliver a sermon.

The palace also revealed that the king will hold a reception for visiting heads of state at Buckingham Palace on Sunday before the state funeral.
