“Queer”, a gay film starring Daniel Craig, hits theaters this Thursday (12)

Starring Daniel Craig the film “Queer “, premieres in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (12). With MUBI distribution in the country, production is the new Luca Guadagnino director of “Rivals” and “Call Me By Your Name”.

Based on the novel of the same name by William S. Burroughs one of the main authors of the beat literary movement, published in 1985, which takes place in Mexico City in the 1950s and tells the story of William Lee, the writer’s alter-ego. Craig will play the protagonist, who is homosexual and needs to deal with his drug addiction.

While dealing with addiction, Lee also embarks on an intense journey of discovery about his sexuality when he becomes involved with young Eugene, played by Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks”).

The cast also includes the singer Omar Apollo , Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks”) and the Brazilian Henry Zaga (“The New Mutants” and “After the Universe”). Check out an excerpt from the production already released by the studio .

“Queer” premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, where it received much praise, especially for the performance of Daniel Craig, who could earn his first Oscar nomination for the film. On Monday (9), the actor received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the production.
