“Quiet on Show”: Drake Bell talks about abuse in new documentary

The documentary series “Quiet on Show The Dark Side of Kids TV” premiered in the United States last week. Since then, scenes from the production have been circulating on social media.

The title brings reports from actors and producers about behind the scenes of children's television programs that aired between 1990 and 2010 on Nickelodeon under the command of Dan Schneider .

Interviewees cite cases ofSchneider's exism, racism, and inappropriate behavior toward cast members. In addition to abuse by professionals on the sets of their series.

One of the actors to speak in the series is Drake Bell one of the protagonists of the series “Drake & Josh” which aired from 2004 to 2007. He claims to have been a victim of abuse as a minor while working on the show.

Now, at 37, the actor has spoken publicly about being abused by his former acting and speech coach, Brian Peck who was sentenced to 16 months in prison in 2004 for sexual assault.

At the time, the court upheld the name of the anonymous child actor, who has just come to light to be Bell.

“I was sleeping on the couch where I would normally sleep and I woke up to him. I opened my eyes, woke up and he was sexually assaulting me . I froze and was in complete shock, and had no idea what to do or how to react. I had no idea how to get out of that situation,” she reported.

“What I'll do? Calling my mom and saying 'Hey, this just happened, can you come get me? I'm going to sit here and wait.' I didn't have a car, I didn't drive. I was 15 at that time.”

Among other accusations made in the documentaries are: sexualization of children and abuse of women and children by Schneider.

The producer is responsible for titles such as “The Amanda Show” , “Drake & Josh” , “Zoey 101” , “Icarly” and more.

In an interview with DanWarp, published on YouTube, Schneider says he is sorry and promises to take responsibility for the way he acted on his Nickelodeon programs.

“Watching this over the last few nights has been very difficult. I am facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and which I regret. I definitely owe a few people the deepest apology,” she began.

“Most TV writers and comedy writers have been in writers' rooms and know that inappropriate jokes are often made and inappropriate topics come up. But the fact that I participated in this, especially when I was leaving the room, shames me. I shouldn’t have done that,” he continued.

“I hate the fact that anyone who worked with me didn't have a good time. There were many moments when I was watching the documentary, I wanted to pick up the phone and call some people and say, 'I'm sorry, let's talk about this, I hope it's better and I wish I could have given you a better experience,'” he said. .

Even before the series premiered, the Nickelodeon shared a position with the CNN International . See below.

“While we cannot corroborate or deny allegations of behavior from decades-old productions, Nickelodeon, as a matter of policy, investigates all formal complaints as part of our commitment to promoting a safe and professional work environment free from harassment or other types of inappropriate conduct.
