Rabbit Hole opens in Milan, the venue inspired by Alice in Wonderland

A tea at Alice’s house, inside Wonderland. Huge hats hanging from the ceiling with ceramic teapots and cups, giant flowers, clocks and the large chessboard that follow a common sense: immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of one of the most beloved tales. A stone’s throw from the Milan Cathedral, in via Mazzini 20, he opened «Rabbit Hole», The place totally inspired by Alice’s adventures: a corner of wonder and beauty, away from the Milanese bustle, to relax, have a tea and breathe the atmosphere of a fairy tale.

Once through the entrance you enter immediately in Alice’s garden: a room decorated with pink and white flowers, mirrors, red velvet armchairs and a restored trunk used as a table. The magic continues in the room of the Cheshire Cat and in the “reverse” one, where carpets, tables and chairs hang upside down from the ceiling. And again, the social table: a large table with several seats, designed for those who arrive alone and want to socialize with others.

The idea of ​​opening a themed tea room comes from Silvia and Roberto, who share a passion for Japan and its culture: “After a journey to discover the land of the Rising Sun and our wedding, we decided to make our dream come true. to open a themed venue. We were fascinated by the fashion of Themed Cafè, very widespread abroad, so we decided to propose it again in Italy: we opened a first restaurant in Palermo in 2017, which is now temporarily closed, and a second point here in Milan “, says the couple. “We chose Milan with the conviction that such a transversal theme, that of Alice, could please both children and adults”, explains Silvia. And so it was: “The place is always full, at all hours.”

Also thanks to his instagrammability, since many customers ask to go around the place to take pictures and make videos before sitting at the table and ordering. “For this project we let ourselves be carried away by emotionality”, Silvia reveals. A card played very well, which has made its way into the hearts of the Milanese: since the opening day many have queued in front of the shop windows, curious to enter a magical world and live a unique experience.

On the dessert counter, a pink LED inscription sounds like an imperative: «Follow your cake», but it is not easy. The cakes are handled by Silvia, an expert pastry chef who creates real masterpieces using her recipes: “The most popular cake is Red Velvet, made of sponge cake with red cocoa and cheese, and then there is definitely the Cheshire Cat cake“. Which you cannot miss in this themed place: it is a true triumph of sweetness, prepared with a base of cocoa sponge cake, white chocolate ganache, composed of berries, decorated with brownie and berries. Once you have chosen the cake or biscuits, all that remains is to immerse yourself in the long list of teas, herbal teas and infusions with evocative names such as: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, green tea Recipe for a good mood, the herbal tea Without worries and that with spearmint, cinnamon, hibiscus, licorice, ginger, fennel, cardamom and chamomile, rightly called “inner peace”. Just get carried away by the mood.

«The most loved and famous tea is that of the Brucaliffo, which as if by magic changes color and turns from blue to purple », Silvia continues. There is also the possibility to choose from many special coffees – from Viennese to coconut – chocolates for all tastes, gluten-free and lactose-free pancakes. Then the drinks for the aperitif and the very special beers, each with its own label with the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts or the Mad Hatter. A wooden staircase, with the names of the most famous Disney films on each step, leads down to the tea room. In this place it is possible to organize graduation parties, birthdays, baptisms and bachelorette parties, all characterized by a fairytale atmosphere.
