The incident occurred during the panel discussion “Cryptocurrency mining from the point of view of energy workers. Regulation or freedom of action? at the Russian Energy Week forum. RAKIB stated that Snikkars “allowed himself to publicly slander the association and its leadership.”
“There was such an association RAKIB, in my opinion, now half of the leadership of the association is in the federal criminal investigation department and outside the Russian Federation,” the authors of the letter quote him, referring to the recording of the broadcast on YouTube.
RAKIB stated that this statement is considered “as slander committed using one’s official position.” They are going to achieve a “public apology and refutation on official resources” of the Ministry of Energy.
The Ministry confirmed receipt of a letter from RACIB and stated that Snikkars’ statement was a response to a statement by one of the discussion participants that the Ministry of Energy was warned back in 2017-2020 about a serious increase in electricity consumption in connection with mining.
RACIB regularly comment on bills related to cryptocurrencies and mining. Recently, the association asked the Russian Minister of Finance to provide more details about the bill introducing criminal liability for miners.
