A survey carried out by the training and development company CEGOS, exclusively for CNN Brasil, shows that 75% of Brazilian companies point to racism as the main discrimination in the work environment, followed by political opinions (42%) and physical appearance (37 %).
For the study, more than 4,000 HR professionals were interviewed in seven countries: Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal.

Around the world: 82% of respondents worldwide have witnessed some form of discrimination in the workplace.
According to the numbers, it is possible to interpret that discrimination persists strongly despite existing laws. In the countries surveyed, employees cite physical appearance first (46%), followed by age (42%), racism (41%) and gender (38%). The scores are even higher when the responses of young people aged between 18 and 24 are analyzed separately for each of these questions.
Here in Brazil, most people (75%) believe that racism is the most common form of discrimination. Next, 42% believe that the main reason for discrimination is political opinions.
Third, with 37% of the responses, physical appearance appears as the main form of discrimination in Brazil. And gender issues occupy the 4th position, with 38% of the answers.
Another important piece of data from this survey is that 63% of employees who participated in the survey said they had already suffered from at least one form of discrimination. Most of the acts are performed first by colleagues and then by direct managers.
