The city of São Paulo receives, this Tuesday (30), a new space dedicated to pedestrian traffic and cultural activities near Avenida Paulista. Bulevar do Rádio is a promenade that connects Sesc to Itaú Cultural, resulting from works to improve Rua Leôncio de Carvalho.
The space received new paving, urban furniture, landscaping and a macro-drainage system to prevent flooding. The place will also be open for cultural activities that are previously authorized by the City of São Paulo.
The novelty is the result of a partnership between São Paulo City Hall, Sesc São Paulo and Fundação Itaú/Itaú Cultural, with the support of the Association of Radio and TV Broadcasters of the State of São Paulo (AESP).
The place was named Bulevar do Rádio in honor of the 100th anniversary of the first radio broadcast in Brazil, celebrated last year.
“The Radio Boulevard represents not only an architectural landmark, but also a symbol of union between public and private institutions promoting the development and well-being of the community”, highlighted AESP in a statement.
Vehicle access to the buildings located on Rua Leôncio de Carvalho will be via Alameda Santos.
