Radiologist Martinho Gomes de Souza Neto, arrested for sexual abuse, was released after having his preventive detention revoked by the court. The action took place this Thursday (9), just over a week after his arrest in flagrante delicto for sexual abuse. The information was confirmed to the CNN for the doctor’s defence.
The radiologist was arrested red-handed on March 1, suspected of raping a patient during an examination at a clinic in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to the victim’s report to the police, the doctor would have touched her private parts without gloves and asked if she “was enjoying” the procedure.
The doctor is also already being investigated by the Civil Police for the crime of sexual harassment, reported by another patient in 2020.
After the arrest, five other women denounced the doctor for the same crime.
Martinho’s release occurred after the Rio de Janeiro court accepted the defense’s allegations. In a note, the lawyers wrote that the decision to release the radiologist be used by the Regional Council of Medicine of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Cremerj) “reflects that its associates took the oath of Hippocrates and that, therefore, they act for the good of their ill, even if they may be misunderstood”.

In a note, the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro informed that “the process is under judicial secrecy”.
