The processing of data collected by the Energy Regulatory Authority from the survey of electricity companies continues in order to determine the basis on which the 90% levy announced by the government will be calculated.
This was stated yesterday by government sources, clarifying that the 90% fee will not be in the form of taxation (as this could create legal entanglements) but a solidarity contribution from the companies.
It is recalled that the investigation by RAE for the half year October 2021 to March 2022 concluded that the increased profitability of companies amounted to 927 million Euros, an amount from which are deducted 336 million which is the cost of discounts made by PPC to its customers since August 2021. The cost of fixed tariffs provided by PPC to its customers is under investigation, which – with the price increases that mediated the cost of energy production – are now below cost in all categories of customers.
At the same time, discussions began with the European Commission on the change of the market and the implementation from July 1 of the compensation mechanism of the power plants based on the production costs, through which the additional costs caused by the international energy crisis will be absorbed.
