The Energy Regulator has given electricity suppliers that have not yet adjusted their advertising listings until next Monday to stop the misleading reports it has identified, or it will go ahead with making their brands public.
RAE announced today that it is completing the audit of advertising listings for apparent abusive practices of Electricity Suppliers, which may mislead consumers in relation to the subsidy provided by the State through the Energy Transition Fund.
As found by the audit, the Suppliers have taken actions to ensure that their advertising strategy complies with the requirements of transparency, clarity and avoidance of misleading impressions. “However, the Authority emphasizes, in at least three cases of Suppliers, it appears that the commercial communication of their products is further scrutinized in the light of misleading consumers and unfair competition, in violation of the framework text.
To the said Suppliers, the Authority today addressed a letter, in which they pointed out the specific problematic cases of advertisements and ordered a strict deadline for the submission, by Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11:00, of the duly reformed entries, based on directions to be sent within the day to all Suppliers”.
Finally, it emphasizes that it will post on its website the details of the Suppliers who did not withdraw – revised their commercial policy on Tuesday at 11:00, as well as those who did not notify on time how they complied with their obligations.
