RAE: Letter to 3 suppliers for misleading advertising

Three cases of companies, which with the commercial communication of their products are controlled in the light of misleading consumers and unfair competition, were identified by the Energy Regulatory Authority during the control it carried out in the previous days.

Specifically, as stated in a relevant announcement, the Energy Regulatory Authority is completing the control over the advertising listings in print, radio and television media, websites, as well as social media, of supply invoices.

The control in question was carried out on the basis of the data sent by the Suppliers as well as data collected by RAE on its own initiative. It is noted that not only the entries of the Suppliers in all the information and communication media, but also of their commercial partners were checked.

RAE found during the audit that the Suppliers have taken actions to ensure the compliance of their advertising strategy with the requirements of transparency, clarity and avoidance of misleading impressions. However, in at least three cases of Suppliers, it appears that the marketing communication of their products is further scrutinized in light of misleading consumers and unfair competition, in breach of the framework text. To the said Suppliers, the Authority today addressed a letter, in which they pointed out the specific problematic cases of advertisements and ordered a strict deadline for the submission, by Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11:00, of the duly reformed entries, based on directions to be sent within the day to all Suppliers.

RAE will post on its website the details of the suppliers who have not withdrawn – they have properly revised their commercial policy, on Tuesday 9 August at 11:00.
