The border passage between Egypt and the Gaza Strip in Rafah is closed, a European Commission spokesman said on Tuesday (18).
“The point of passage is closed and the European Union’s Eubam mission began to put into practice emergency procedures to deal with the situation as it develops,” the spokesman told Brussels reporters.
This happens after Israel break the ceasefire and start the attacks on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Ministry of Health of Palestinian territory, which is controlled by Hamas, more than 400 people died.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the attacks are “just the beginning” and warned that negotiations for pause in fighting will only happen “under fire.”
He claimed that military pressure is necessary to ensure the release of Hamas hostages.
