The Railway Regulatory Authority announces the completion of the evaluation of the application V-20210428-006 submitted by TRENITALIA SpA and concerns the certification of the ETR 470 train.
The Railway Regulatory Authority carried out a thorough inspection of the submitted application, emphasizing the problematic points it identified, including the installation of the sandblasting system in the two engine units of the vehicle to be approved.
After the submission of all the updated documents by TRENITALIA SpA related to the above-mentioned safety issues raised by RAS, the evaluators of the Railway Regulatory Authority proceeded again to a detailed examination of the file.
The evaluation process was completed within the stipulated schedule, based on the last extension given. According to the result of the evaluation, the dossier of the submitted application is complete, in terms of the provisions of the relevant European and national legislation.
The decision of the Plenary
After the completion of the evaluation procedures of the file of TRENITALIA SpA Company, the Plenary Session of RAS decided to proceed with the following actions which complete the certification process of the ETR 470 train.
– To authorize the President of RAS Mrs. Ioanna Tsiaparikou to sign the decision of granting vehicle approval for placing on the market as well as the vehicle type approval.
– To grant vehicle approval for placing on the market as well as type approval, to the vehicle.
Finally, the RAS evaluators are instructed to take the necessary steps in order to register the vehicle in the relevant registers, ie the European Register of Approved Rail Vehicle Types and the National Register of Vehicles.
