the strong rains that reached the city of Sao Paulo in the early hours of Saturday (12) generated several floodingwith at least 14 points impassable until 8 am, according to data from the Center for Management of Climatic Emergencies (CGE) in the capital of São Paulo.
Of the 14 points, six are located in the east of the city, with three in the Itaquera neighborhood, one in Vila Formosa/Aricanduva and two in Vila Prudente. There are still five points in the south zone and one in the southeast, west and north zones.
The CGE even established a state of attention in several regions of the city due to the rains around 3:00 am. Most were closed between 6:05 am and 6:50 am, and there are no other areas of São Paulo in attention.
The agency reported that there were overflows of the Córrego Mooca, at the height of Avenida Salim Farah Maluf with Praça Maria da Penha Nascimento, and the Córrego Morro do S, at the time of Avenida Carlos Caldeira Filho between Túlio Mugnaini and Joaquim Nunes Teixeira streets.
The highest rainfall was recorded at the Jabaquara meteorological station, at 63.8 millimeters (mm), while the lowest was at Cidade Ademar, with 55.2 mm.
According to the CGE, the area of instability that generated the heavy rains in Greater São Paulo has lost strength, and currently there is only variation in clouds and a forecast of drizzle for Saturday morning.
“However, the weather is still unstable and new areas of rain are still expected to hit the capital of São Paulo during the day,” says the agency.
The trend for the next few days, points out the CGE, is that the continuity of the propagation of a cold front along the coast of São Paulo, the weather will be unstable, with showers and a chance of easing the heat registered in recent days.
There is also an alert for the increased risk of flooding and slips of earth over the next few days, as the rains leave the soils soggy.
