The rains affecting Rio de Janeiro this Sunday (14) prompted an alert for a very high hydrological risk for several cities in the metropolitan region, according to the state's Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alert Center (Cemaden-RJ).
In a note issued at 10:30 am, the warning of very high hydrological risk is in force for the municipalities of Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias, Mesquita, Nilópolis, Nova Iguaçu, São João de Meriti, Maricá, Niterói, Japeri, Seropédica and Rio de Janeiro.
The alert indicates that the regions are likely to suffer from flooding, floods and flash floods due to the storms, which have already left at least four people dead in the state.
Slips
Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, Mesquita, Nilópolis, São João de Meriti, Niterói, Queimados and Seropédica are the municipalities that also have a very high risk for landslides, according to Cemaden, in a note issued at 9am.
At the same time, the risk for landslides is high in Magé, Maricá, Belford Roxo, Paraty, Angra dos Reis, São Gonçalo, Nova Iguaçu, Paracambi, Japeri and Teresópolis.
Forecast
The forecast for this Sunday is moderate to occasionally heavy rain for the entire state. With the sequence of days with high rainfall, and the current weather forecast, hydrological and geological risks tend to increase, reports Cemaden.
