Rain leaves 59 dead and 125,200 people out of their homes

The rains that hit Brazil since November 2021 left 59 dead, according to a survey carried out by the Agency. CNN, released this Thursday (13).

The state of Bahia had 26 fatalities in the period, and Minas Gerais, 25. São Paulo had 8 deaths during the storms.

The country also registers 125,200 people who are out of their homes, expelled by storms, floods and landslides.

The number corresponds to homeless people – who had their property destroyed by weather events – or displaced people, who left temporarily, but do not know when exactly they will be able to return to their homes.

According to the survey, ten states were affected by the storms and events resulting from them: Rio de Janeiro, Maranhão, Tocantins, Pará, Minas Gerais, Piauí, Bahia, Espírito Santo, São Paulo and Goiás.

In all, there are 693 municipalities affected by the rains or in a state of emergency.
