The rainy season will peak until December in Rio Grande do Sul, according to Colonel Marcus Vinícius Gonçalves Oliveira, who is deputy head of the Military House – Protection and Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul.
A CNN Radio he stated that “we will have a few more days with a lot of precipitation, from the end of December and January this should decrease.”
Until this happens, “the Campanha region and the south of the state present the biggest concerns, we will have a large amount of rain and a tendency for rivers to rise.”
The storms that hit Rio Grande do Sul over the weekend caused damage and disruption in 177 cities, leaving more than 28,000 people out of their homes, according to the State’s Civil Defense.

“192 municipalities reported the effects of adverse events”, he added.
The colonel highlighted that Rio Grande do Sul “has been suffering from many adverse events, which were not common in the state this year.”
