After days of storms that caused what has been called the “greatest natural disaster” in the history of Bahia, heavy rains should give a break in southern Bahia this Wednesday (29), but the situation is not the same for the rest of the country.
According to Climatempo, there are still risks of heavy rains in western Bahia and in the northern and eastern regions of Minas Gerais – whose capital, Belo Horizonte, has already suffered from flooding on Tuesday (28).
Excessive rain is also a concern in Espírito Santo, the Federal District, the north of Goiás and Tocantins.
This is because a hot, dry air mass predominates over the South Region and prevents the formation of a lot of cloudiness, creating areas of instability over almost the entire country.
Almost all areas of the Southeast, Midwest, Northeast and North of Brazil are subject to moderate to heavy rain showers that can occur at any time.
In the metropolitan regions of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, it rains in the afternoon and at night, with the risk of sudden flooding in the capitals – as observed on Tuesday in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
The exception for the occurrence of storms is in the southern region and in the interior of the states of Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas and Sergipe, where the sun is strong.
