A survey carried out by CNN along with the State Civil Defenses pointed out, this Monday morning (5), that eight Brazilian states are affected by the heavy rains of the last few days.
They are Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe, Santa Catarina and São Paulo.
In total, 178 municipalities were impacted by the storms, which have already left at least 15 dead.
In addition, the number of displaced people exceeded 17 thousand people and around 2.8 thousand are homeless.
Deaths were registered in Espírito Santo (1), Minas Gerais (2), Paraná (2), Rio de Janeiro (4), Sergipe (2) and Santa Catarina (4).
According to Climatempo, this Monday (5), areas of instability remain high in the North and Northeast regions, with a risk of more heavy rains and storms.
“The south of Bahia, the coast of Paraná and Santa Catarina are again on alert for heavy and persistent rain during the day, with a high potential for disruption. The heat continues to be highlighted throughout the day and the air is stuffy in São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, in the Federal District, in Minas, in Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso and in Pará. In general, it rains heavily in other areas from the North to the South of the country”, informed the company’s meteorologists.
A person displaced by the rains is someone who has been temporarily or definitively forced to abandon their home due to the disaster, but who does not necessarily need shelter provided by public authorities.
