Rains in Rio: dead were between 39 and 77 years old; see who the victims are

The government of Rio de Janeiro confirms that 12 people died due to the storms that affected the capital and Baixada Fluminense between Saturday night (13) and Sunday morning (14).

The 12 people killed were aged between 39 and 77 years old. The deaths were due to drowning, burial and electric shock. Two people are still missing.

The deaths occurred in the city of Rio de Janeiro and in the municipalities of Duque de Caxias, Nova Iguaçu, Belford Roxo and São João de Meriti.

• Marli Zeferino Alves, 77 years old: drowning. Place of death: Rua Maturá, Acari
• Geraldo (surname not given), 59 years old: burial. Place of death: Rua Moraes Pinheiro, Ricardo de Albuquerque
• Terezinha do Carmo Cassimiro, 55 years old: burial. Place of death: Estrada de Botafogo, Costa Barros

Duke of Caxias

• Marcos Aurélio Aguiar Cotias, 53 years old: electric shock. Place of death: Rua Marquês de Paranaguá
• Paulo César Oliveira Fernandes, 59 years old: electric shock. Place of death: Rua Dona Alice Viterbo, São Bento
• Michelle Mericiana Ferreira, 39 years old: drowning. Place of death: Bairro Saracuruna (street not specified)

New Iguaçu

• Woman, approximately 50 years old (name unknown): drowning. Place of death: Rua General Rondon
• Vanderlei Rodrigues Alves, 53 years old: drowning. Place of death: Rua Coronel Bernardino de Melo, Comendador Soares
• Marcus Aurélio Laponte Alampi, 53 years old: drowning. Place of death: Rua Patrícia Cristina, Vila São Luís

• Antônio Caetano Cordeiro, 64 years old: electric shock. Place of death: Rua Neusa
• Sérgio Carlos Monteiro da Silva, 57 years old: drowning. Place of death: Rua Pinto Duarte
