The balance released by the government of Rio Grande do Sul this Monday morning (6) shows that 850,422 people were affected by heavy rains in 345 municipalities in the state.
To get an idea of the scale of the disaster, Rio Grande do Sul is divided into 497 municipalities with 11.3 million inhabitants. Analyzing the number of cities and people affected by the rains, this means that 70% of the municipalities and 7.5% of the state's population were affected by the storms.
According to the report, the number of deaths in Rio Grande do Sul rose to 83. In addition, four deaths are under investigation. In total, 111 people are missing and 276 are injured. There are already 121,957 homeless people and 19,368 people in shelters.
