The storm that hit a large part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul on Tuesday night (16) affected more than 13,900 people. In total, 51 municipalities reported incidents, 153 people were homeless and one death was recorded in the municipality of Cachoeirinha, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The data comes from the state Civil Defense.
Last night, no serious occurrences were reported, nor were there any records of flooding in the basins that are being monitored more closely.
Vale do Caí, made up of 19 municipalities, which had a warning in force, now presents a stable condition, with no flooding forecast.
In Porto Alegre, 74% of customers affected by the storms have already had their electricity back on, according to the energy company. Of the six water treatment plants, one remains out of operation.
On Wednesday (17), the mayor of Porto Alegre, Sebastião Melo (MDB), declared an emergency in the city due to the damage caused by the heavy rains that hit the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. The decree can be in force for up to 180 days.
In the municipality of Cachoeirinha, where a death was recorded as a result of a roof falling due to strong winds, the lack of energy affected the water supply, which is being provided using water trucks.
In total, according to Cachoeirinha city hall, ten people were injured and 15 were homeless. At the moment, there are 897 roofed houses, 60 damaged cars, 456 fallen vegetables, 156 poles damaged and nine neighborhoods without electricity.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a red alert of great storm danger for much of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina this Thursday (18).
According to Climatempo, there is a possibility of rain at any time in the eastern part of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. In the north of Rio Grande do Sul and in the south of Santa Catarina, the forecast is for storms. Winds can reach 90 km/h in Santa Catarina.
In Paraná, the sun appears in the morning, the cloudiness increases, and rain showers occur in isolation in the afternoon.
On Friday (19), the weather remains unstable across the entire South region. The passage of a cold front in the south of Rio Grande do Sul favors rain at any time. The area of the state with temporary rainfall forecast is the west and north coast. In other places, heavy rain showers are expected.
On Saturday (20), the weather should be firm in the center-west of Rio Grande do Sul. The forecast of rain with thunderstorms is only for the north of Rio Grande do Sul. In Santa Catarina and Paraná, the forecast is for clouds and rain at any time, which could be more intense in the east of the two states.
On Sunday (21), the weather remains firm in much of Rio Grande do Sul and the forecast is only for passing rain. In the east of Santa Catarina and Paraná, humid winds from the ocean favor a lot of cloudiness and rain at any time. In other areas of the two states, the forecast is for rain showers with thunderstorms in the late afternoon.
