Rains in RS: impressive image shows baby being rescued by helicopter in Lajeado; look

Search and rescue teams from the 2nd Army Aviation Battalion used a helicopter to rescue a baby in the city of Lajeado (RS), this Friday (3). The rescue was carried out in the midst of the biggest natural catastrophe in the history of Rio Grande do Sul.

In the images, it is possible to observe the military's action through the body camera of one of them. In the first action upon approaching the location, the soldiers broke the roof of the house where the family was staying with bricks.

Upon achieving contact, one soldier held the child and handed it to the other, who was inside the helicopter. Later, the woman who was with the baby was also rescued.

The city of Lajeado is one of those that is being heavily punished by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul. Throughout the week, other rescues had to be carried out using aircraft. See images below:

This Saturday, the city hall released images of a helicopter transporting a power generator to the hospital in Estrela.

According to the municipal administration, the level of the Taquari river in Lajeado reached 22.79 meters this Saturday morning – a decrease of 15 cm in one hour.

However, despite the drop in the level, the situation is still worrying. This is because the river's alert level is 15 meters, while the attention level is 17 meters. The river begins to flood at 19.5 meters and, at 19.8 meters, the first homes are already affected.
