A balance released in the early afternoon of this Sunday (5) by the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul reveals that the number of fatalities rose to 75 as a result of the heavy rains that hit the state over the last few days. Another six deaths are under investigation.
From the previous report, from the morning period, to the current one, the number of confirmed deaths increased from 66 to 75. In total, 334 municipalities were affected.
In addition to the dead, the state has 155 injured and 103 missing. The number of people affected is 780,725, of which 88,019 are homeless and 16,609 in shelters.

The capital Porto Alegre, despite being suffering the worst flood in its history – with the level of the Guaíba having exceeded 5 meters – has not yet recorded any deaths related to the rains.
However, there are three confirmed deaths in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, two in Taquara and one in Canoas.
