The Fire Department and the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro reinforced this Monday (6) rescue operations for victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
A group of 54 agents will join the Fire Department teams that have been operating in the south of the country for three days and have already rescued more than 70 people alive.
The corporation's task force will reinforce the search and rescue operation for victims affected by the rains with 15 boats, 5 pickup trucks, two trucks, a bus and around 200 various disaster rescue materials.
“We plan to work with 250 firefighters from Rio de Janeiro there. Today, the largest workforce outside of Rio Grande do Sul is ours. We will stay there as long as necessary. As long as there are victims to be rescued, we will be there”, said the Secretary of State for Civil Defense and general commander of the Fire Department, Leandro Monteiro.
The Civil Police Secretariat reported that it has already sent ten agents to help rescue the victims. The operation relies on a corporation aircraft, as well as equipment.
Later this week, the Civil Police will send a multidisciplinary team from the Scientific Technical Police with experience in identifying victims.
