The number of municipalities affected by the rains that have hit Rio Grande do Sul since the weekend has risen to 47. To date, more than 29 thousand people have been affected, according to a report from the state Civil Defense.
Since last Saturday (21), a weather system has caused instability in the state. 222 homeless people and 298 displaced people have already been recorded, with a total of 29,452 affected.
Given the situation in the region, the state Civil Defense began sending alerts via SMS, social media and the official website hours before the meteorological events. By the end of this Thursday morning, 57 alerts had already been issued.
According to Civil Defense, throughout this Thursday (26), there is still a forecast of more rain and new storms. The forecast is that, on Friday (27), the cold front will already be over Santa Catarina, but there is still the possibility of light rain over the north of Rio Grande do Sul and some humidity over the eastern part.
Daily bulletins
The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul has resumed publishing daily bulletins about the rains that have hit the state since the beginning of the week. This is a practice that was adopted during the major floods that occurred in May this year.
The storms and floods at the end of April and May left more than 170 people dead.
