Users of Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten’s cryptocurrency wallet can now exchange BTC, ETH, and BCH for Rakuten Cash to top up their Pay app and Point credit card.
According to Rakuten, the company has added the ability to exchange BTC, ETH and BCH for Rakuten Cash within the firm’s cryptocurrency wallet. This allows cryptocurrencies to be used to fund the Pay app wallet and Point credit card.
In this case, no commission will be charged for such transfers. The minimum transaction amount is 1,000 yen ($ 9.37) and the maximum is 100,000 yen ($ 937) per month. Customers can use the cryptocurrency to pay with thousands of merchants across Japan who accept Rakuten Pay and Rakuten Point Card.
Rakuten is also integrating its cryptocurrency wallet into the Pay app this spring. The e-commerce service Rakuten has over 95 million registered users, according to a JPMorgan report.
As a reminder, Rakuten officially launched the Rakuten Wallet cryptocurrency exchange in August 2019. In December of the same year, the company announced the launch of a service through which customers of the store can exchange their loyalty points for BTC, ETH and BCH.
