His victory in the parliamentary elections last Sunday (25/04) in Albania announced with all formality the Eddie Rama. Despite his explosive nature, himself appeared united in governing the country for the next four years.
With the count coming to an end, the results so far show that the Socialist Party is gaining autonomy with 73 to 74 deputies out of a total of 140 who make up the country’s Parliament. The opposition elects 63 to 64 deputies and the uncounted ballots are estimated to have no effect on the result.
Eddie Rama, invited his (and his party’s) followers to a solemn gathering in Tirana’s central Skanderbeg Square. And all this despite the prohibitive measures he has taken to deal with the pandemic.
According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, in his statements he described his victory as “the most difficult, the biggest and the most beautiful”, while extending a hand of cooperation to the opposition.
The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, recognized the result, while the first foreign leader to greet her was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaef, sent congratulatory telegrams to Mr. Rama.
