Queen Rania and her husband, King Abdullah, became grandparents for the first time when Princess Iman was born – just over a year after the marriage of Al Hussein and Rajwa, a former designer from one of Riyadh’s most influential families. The little girl, whose name means “faith” in Arabic, has immediately conquered the hearts of the sovereigns. And in fact, they were the ones who welcomed the new royal baby on social media: «I thank God for giving us our first granddaughter Iman bint Hussein. I congratulate beloved Hussein and Rajwa on their newborn. We ask God to raise her well and protect her for her parents. You have enlightened our family“, the grandfather king had written on social media Abdullah. Rania for her part had posted a photo on Instagram in which, all smiles, she was holding her first granddaughter in her arms: «Iman, you have already won my heart. Our family has never been happier“, the Queen wrote alongside the shot.

Little Iman will not be queen of Jordan unless the law changes. According to current succession rules, only males can inherit the Hashemite throne. His father, Hussein, 30, is instead the heir to the throne of Jordan: he was appointed Crown Prince in 2004at the age of 15, after Abd Allah II had taken away the title from his half-brother, Prince Hamzah. At the moment, however, at court more than to dynastic matters everyone seems to be thinking about the joy that little Iman has brought to the family. Her father, the future king Al Hussein, only a few days ago had posted a social photo on Instagram in which he was holding his “treasure” in his arms. And now, to wish mother Rania a happy birthday, she chose a tender shot in which the little girl is sleeping in the sovereign’s arms.
